This Neil Simon comedy is composed of three acts, each involving different characters but all set in Suite 719 of New York City’s Plaza Hotel. Act I involves a not-so-blissfully wedded couple revisiting their honeymoon suite in the wife’s unsuccessful attempt to bring the love back into their marriage. Act II involves a meeting between a movie producer and an old flame from high school, now a suburban housewife. While she has come to the suite seemingly for nothing more than a chat between old friends, he has other plans in mind. Act III is filled with increasingly outrageous slapstick moments, and tells the story of a young bride, who on her wedding day, and to the consternation of her parents, locks herself in the suite’s bathroom and refuses to come out. Her parents become frantic in their effort to dislodge her from her fortress.

ACT I
Bellhop - mid 20’s, polite, friendly, helpful. (Supporting role)
Karen Nash - 48 and makes no bones about it, a pleasant, affable woman.
Sam Nash - 50, trim, impeccably neat, measured, efficient, economic, in denial.
Waiter - middle-aged, polite, accommodating. (Supporting role)
Jean McCormack - 28, Sam’s secretary, trim, attractive, neat, bright, cheerful, efficient. (Supporting role)

ACT II
Waiter - same as Act I. (Supporting role)
Jesse Kiplinger - 40, confident, self-assured, lonely, Hollywood producer.
Muriel Tate - late 30’s, very attractive, warm, seemingly naive, nervous, vulnerable.

ACT III
Norma Hubley - mother, middle-aged, nervous, easily upset, strong sense of propriety.
Roy Hubley - father, middle aged, volatile, ridiculously explosive, stingy.
Bordon Eisler - 20-30, groom, down to earth, direct and steady. (Supporting role)
Mimsey Hubley - 20-30, bride, confused, frightened, recalcitrant. (Supporting role)

For the audition, candidates do not need to bring prepared material. Everyone will be given numerous opportunities to audition for a variety of roles. Direction may be given, but since you will be allowed more than one opportunity, no one need feel anxious about “getting it right the first time.” The audition will involve reading selected scenes from the script.

Over an eight-week period there will be approximately 24 rehearsals, the majority of which will be Monday through Friday, 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. On Thursday, February 18 and Tuesday, February 23, rehearsals will be held at Jackson Elementary School located at 2530 Weeden Creek Road, Sheboygan. Scripts are available for loan through the Theatre Company’s office in the Community Recreation Department. They may be picked up Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. but must be returned to the Community Recreation Department by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2010.
