VISIT 5 CITIES FOR $55
If the economy
has put your vacation plans on hold, the Sheboygan Theatre Company has just the
ticket for you. The Seventy-Sixth Season
of providing quality theatrical entertainment to the community will let you visit
five cities – four American and one European - for a fraction of the usual
price.
The cost of a
Season Ticket is only $55.00 plus tax for adults. This is an average of $11.00 per show and
represents a 45% savings over the single-ticket, box office price! For what you might pay to see a single show
at many venues, the Sheboygan Theatre Company is providing five times as many
nights of entertainment! Subscriptions
for the Seventy-Sixth Season, sponsored by The Stefanie H. Weill Charitable
Fund, Inc. and Acuity and the Arts, are on sale now.
Moreover children
travel at half-price. The cost of a season ticket for youngsters through high
school and those in college is just $27.50 plus tax. That’s an average of $5.50
apiece and represents the same 45% savings over the single-ticket price! This means that a family of two adults and
two children can travel to all five cities for a total cost of just $165.00.
And upon arrival
you’ll be treated to classics from the worlds of theatre, television, movies
and music. These are big, well known,
award–winning productions: a new musical featuring all the hits of Elvis
Presley; a classic, romantic, musical comedy from Broadway; a musical based on
one of Judy Garland’s most famous movies; an adaptation of a classic television
drama; and a vintage Neil Simon comedy.
First
stop is Tupelo, Mississippi, for “All Shook Up” in which a
great –lookin’, motorcyclin’, guitar-playin’, leather-jacketed roustabout blows
into a Midwestern town and turns the whole place upside down. In this story by Joe DiPietro, which features all the
hit songs of the King of Rock and Roll, mystical romance
fills the air, love triangles abound and the entire populace is all shook
up.
At
Christmas you can “Meet Me in St. Louis” where
utter charm abounds in a lively, delightful, and truly wholesome story about a
wonderfully happy family anticipating the excitement of the 1904 World’s Fair. Based on the MGM
Motion Picture, the stage play features a book by Hugh Wheeler and music and
lyrics by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane.
Then it’s off to Chicago for the
trial drama “Twelve Angry Men,” adapted by Sherman Sergel from the Emmy
award-winning television movie by Reginald Rose. What appears to be an open-and-shut murder case becomes a long, drawn
out deliberation when one of the jurors begins opening the others’ eyes to the
facts.
The
final stateside stop is New York City for a stay at Neil Simon’s “Plaza Suite,” a comedy
composed of three acts, each involving different characters but all set in room
719 of the famous and recently refurbished Plaza Hotel. The first vignette
involves a not-so-blissfully wedded couple revisiting their honeymoon suite,
while the second features a meeting between a former movie producer and an old
flame, now a suburban housewife. The funniest of the acts tells of a young
bride who locks herself in the suite’s bathroom on her wedding day and refuses
to come out.
Your final journey will take you across the ocean to Scotland to visit “Brigadoon.” With music by Frederick Loewe and
a book and
lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, this
breathtaking classic of the American Musical Theatre tells the story of a
couple of Americans who stumble into a Scottish hamlet that reappears for one
day every hundred years.
The Sheboygan Theatre Company has two types of subscriptions that
offer membership benefits and are designed to meet a variety of schedules. The reserved season ticket guarantees the
same evening and the same reserved seat for all five main stage productions. A flexible season ticket, ideal for those
with complicated schedules, offers all the benefits of a reserved ticket but
allows customers to choose the performances they wish to attend.
Season tickets may be purchased over
the phone, at the theatre’s office in the Community Recreation Department
during regular business hours or by mail using the form found in the season
brochure. The Theatre Company will also have its regular booth at the Sheboygan
County Fair. For more information see
the Theatre Company website at www.sheboygantheatercompany.com. To receive a brochure or to order Season
Tickets call 920/459-3779.
